We are very sad to announce that on January 27, 2012, Lake Mont Pines lost one of our own, Char Dunasky. We will miss her love, kind words and support. She was an angel.
More information will be posted about her passing and Celebration of Life, which is scheduled for April 21, 2012. Our condolences to Al and all of her family and many friends.
Charline Anne Plant Dunasky
1934-2012

Char was born Born on April 21, 1934 in Colorado, She left us on January 27, 2012... Char's younger sister Bev, said “She was always there for me taking care of me while we grew up in Colorado... She was always very independent and not afraid to try anything....”

Their father worked for the Burroughs Adding Machine Co,. who transferred him to San Carlos, Ca in 1945.  Char attended Central Grade School and graduated from Sequoia High School. She was active in working on yearbooks and sports, especially swimming, and worked as a life guard during summers in high school and college. She attended San Jose State college and was active in Delta Gamma Sorority. She had a major in elementary teaching, and after she graduated worked for many years teaching grades 1-6.

Char met her future husband Al Dunasky, at San Jose State and they married in November of 1957. They have two grown children Jeff and Jill and several grand children.

In 1969, Al & Char were hired as the Summer Recreation Program Leaders for the Lake Mont Pines Homeowners Association in Arnold, California. They fell in love with the community and eventually purchased property, built a beautiful home and retired in Lake Mont Pines.

Char and Al always opened up their home to their extended families and friends. All have fond memories of time spent at Lake Mont Pines. Char enjoyed her time with family, she loved going to Maui and in later years would retreat there in the cold winter to get warm. She enjoyed reading  books and  Time magazine and also loved to play bridge and always enjoyed having people up to the Lake during the summer time.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 21, 2012. More information will be posted at a later time.
Please, no flowers; however if you would like to make a donation in her memory, the family would like to honor the Sutter Hospice who gave her such wonderful comfort care.  address - Sutter Hospice 1836 Sierra Gardens Drive Ste. # 130 Roseville Ca 95661 or Somerford Place, 110 Sterling Court Roseville Ca 95661.

ATTENTION / Lost & Found
A very nice neighbor has turned in a set of keys that he found on Fawn Circle.  Please call the office to identify and claim your lost keys.

CAUTION

During cold weather, we have shady parts of the lake with ice that is not very thick.  Everyone is advised to please stay off the ice.  Children should be supervised by an adult at all times.

Please remember that dogs must be on a leash while on the common area at all times.  Dogs are not allowed on the beach at any time.  Please pick up after your pet, waste stations have been provided.  Thank you.

BOATS AROUND THE LAKE: We are currently inspecting boats stored around the lake.  Boats not marked with member lot numbers, stored incorrectly, not registered, or not secured properly will be confiscated, held and then disposed of.  If we have any information on a boat we will contact the owner and make every effort to avoid a problem.  It is always recommended that members retrieve their boats and store them elsewhere during the winter.  We did have some kayaks stolen from the lake shore this summer.  Storage is at each owner's risk and boats must be registered with the office.  Please call to make sure your boats are in full compliance.

LOCAL NEWS & EVENTS:

Ducks
As you may know, one of our Directors, Kevin Brush, really enjoys working with wood ducks and has a passion for their care and well being.  Here is a video from one of Kevin's recent workshops.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxWDpi6pYuA

Arnold Rim Trail reports that post signs have now been installed on the trail directing hikers to LMP.  This was approved by our Board.  ART and the US Forest Service were very careful in the placement of these signs so that hikers will only be directed toward LMP.  There are no signs in the community directing to the trail head as it was felt that this wold contribute to traffic and parking concerns.  Please enjoy the trail and do not disturb these signs.  More information is available on the internet at arnoldrimtrail.org

A NEW LAW went into effect on 7/1/11.  It requires homes that burn fossil fuels and/or homes with an attached garage must install a Carbon Monoxide Detector.  These can be purchased at our local hardware stores and should be installed on each living level at a low point on your wall.

NEW  Here is our November 2011 Newsletter

NOTICE TO MEMBERS: At the November Board meeting we discussed our old pier and diving floats.  Yes, we plan to replace them in 2012.  The Board likes to involve interested members so an ad hoc Committee is being formed, just like we did with the playground.  Interested members may volunteer to be on this committee.  Please contact the office and/or just send us your comments and suggestions for consideration.  We are looking at wood or changing to aluminum.  Various designs and components are being considered.  We welcome member input on these important assets to our community.  Please call the office, send us a note, email or attend our January 2012 meeting to let us know your ideas, suggestions and thoughts.

We are also wondering how members feel about all of our LMP activities, facilities, site improvements, member services and always welcome member input.  We discussed forming a Social Committee to help the Board and Management plan and organize events and summer activities in our wonderful community.  If you like our current programs that's great.  If you have ideas, input or suggestions for us to consider, again, please call the office, send us a note, email or attend our January 2012 meeting.  You are invited to join the Committee, or just let us know your input and thoughts on our community operations.
The exact date of the January 2012 meeting is being considered and will be posted when a decision is made.

We are happy to announce the appointment of 2 members to our Board of Directors at our November Meeting.  We welcome members Kevin Brush and Nick Bressani to the Board.  Per the Bylaws, their term of office will expire at next year's Annual Meeting.  We still have vacancies on the Board.  Interested members should attend our meetings or contact the office for information on how to participate at LMP.
