Notice of CONA Board Nominations

In accordance with Article VII, Section C, of the Bylaws of the Council of Neighborhood Associations, you are being provided with this Notice of Board Nominations

Pursuant to the CONA Bylaws, a Notice of Board Nominations must be sent to each member. Only neighborhoods can be members and each neighborhood has one vote. The voting rights of the member neighborhood can be exercised only by the the individual designated by the board of the member neighborhood as the CONA delegate.

You may choose to nominate yourself and/or another person. Nominations must be received by April 15, 2010 to be considered for the proposed slate of nominees presented by the Nominating Committee for approval by the membership. CONA delegates will vote at the Annual Meeting & Neighborhood Awards Reception to be held on May 10, 2010.

Nominations may also be made from the floor. Pursuant to the bylaws, the term of office is two years and will begin on July 1, 2010, for 2010-12. The Board  meets the 2nd Monday of each month.

Being an all-volunteer organization, we are continually in need of people willing to step up and pitch in to help protect and advance the cause of neighborhoods. To be successful, CONA requires a constant resupply of leadership, energy, ideas, and talent, and the active involvement of our members. We seek a diversified board representative of the neighborhoods we serve.

We have made tremendous strides over the past year and encourage all interested persons to apply. Therefore, if you or someone you know is willing, able, and committed to serving, please consider submitting a nomination for the Board.

For each nominee, please submit the Board Member application, along with the following:
  • Name of nominee (include phone number and email)
  • Nominee's Homeowners/Neighborhood Assn
  • Person making nomination (include phone number and email)
  • Indicate whether or not the the nominee is willing to serve?
The terms of seven of thirteen current Board members expire in July 2010, but each may apply for an additional term. These include Tiffany Hamilton (unaffiliated), Dale Landry (Forest Heights/Holly Hills), Leroy Peck (Weems), Linda Sims-Davis (Seminole Manor), Brad Trotman (Killearn Homes), Jason Welty (Plantation Woods), and Edward Acoff (Indianhead Acres/Lehigh, appointed by the Board in February 2010 to fill a mid-term vacancy). In addition, there are two additional seats the Board can choose to fill.

As always, if you have any questions or would just like to discuss this, please do not hesitate to contact me at 850.459.3029 or stephen100@comcast.net.

Sincerely,

Stephen Hogge, President
