Silver Lake Concert Event!!!! September 12th!!
![]() | ![]() Hi everyone! The Silver Lake Civic Association's 12th Annual Concert is coming on September 18th. Big time fun for all the familiy. There will be fun for the kids and adults as well. It will be on the lawn at The Brittany Club. Bring a picnic dinner and your favorite beverages for a really fun time with all of your friends and neighbors. Last year there were more than 350 people who came and supported the lake. For your enjoyment we will have a magician (6pm), Jumpies for the smaller kids and of course, "The DAM Band" with a new female lead singer and many new songs. This is a fundraiser event to enhance the overall funding needed to keep the lake clean and to maintain the trails for everyone to use. This cost alot to maintain and more than the membership alone can't support. If you know of a company or local business who would be willing to be one of our sponsors and be recognized at our event and be honored on our website, please give me a call at your earliest convenience. The concert will start at 6pm and go til 10:45pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance by contacting Bill Chambers at bchamb1@aol.com. Ticket/donations are $15 per person for members in advance, $20 at the door. For advanced tickets call Bill Chambers at 404-944-0373 or email at bchamb1@aol.com. Please make checks out to Silver Lake Civic Association. Thanks, Bill Chambers Board Member CPCA & SLCA SUPPORT THE LAKE! |

Message from the CPCA President, Peter Bok, August 2009
Dear Cambridge Park Residents,
Wow. It is hard to believe that it has been a year since I last wrote to you. What a year it has been for the Cambridge Park Civic Association! Our neighborhood once again welcomed new residents as we continue to appreciate those who have called Cambridge Park home for many years.
Our Board said “goodbye” to our Treasurer, Jean Bender, who had been actively involved with the Board for many years and was instrumental in the success of our neighborhood. Her replacement, Bill Roberts, has stepped right in and has not missed a beat. Thanks to both Jean and Bill.
Our social events for the 2008/2009 year were extraordinary. Our picnic at the Brittney Club was a hit, complete with BBQ, cold drinks, games, and various kids’ activities. The annual Halloween party was a blast! The costumes, parade, food, conversation, etc. all set the stage for a happy night of Trick or Treating.
The CPCA hired a new lawn maintenance company, “By the Yard” and we are in the process of developing landscape plans for our entrances at Waddeston, Stratfield and Kadleston which should be in place by the end of 2009.
This past year has not been without its challenges. The downturn in the economy has affected those who live in Cambridge Park both in terms of lost jobs, reduced pay and home values. Luckily we live in a neighborhood and in an area that is not as susceptible to housing cost fluctuations. Plus, we can hope that the economy may rebound by the end of 2009, which would be a pleasant occurrence. Both as a result of the downturn and of the fact that we live in a major city, we still continue to realize crime against our neighbors. Theft, vandalism and other crimes have been evident throughout the year. We must applaud those who immediately report any suspicious activity, communicate any crimes and keep a watch on our neighborhood.
As we discussed last year, I speak for our Board when I say that we always look to improve our neighborhood in terms of activities, communication, security and aesthetics. We strive to develop family-friendly programs and an environment that makes you proud and happy to live in Cambridge Park. In order to accomplish this, we need your support. That support will come through volunteering and participating in our events and from financial support from annual dues. Our annual Cambridge Park Civic Association dues allow us the financial strength to maintain our neighborhood at the highest level possible. Your contribution makes a difference and is very much appreciated by our Board, our residents and your neighbors.
Included with my letter is information on this year’s annual dues. If at any time you have any questions regarding our dues, our Board, our neighborhood, etc. please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing you at our annual meeting in September (more details to follow) and thank you for your commitment to Cambridge Park.
Sincerely yours,
Peter Bok

Tree Check 2008
| Wondering if your trees survived the drought?
Worried about dangerous trees? Don’t call a tree service! They only make money cutting down your trees! What you need is a professional arborist… Cambridge Park Civic Association is pleased to sponsor Tree Check 2008 Saturday, June 14 Featuring Chris Barneycastle of Barneycastle Forestry Services, Inc. Mr. Barneycastle is a certified arborist and registered forester with 30 years of experience. A graduate of the UGA Forestry School, Mr. Barneycastle is past president of the Georgia Arborist Association. During the Tree Check, Mr. Barneycastle will screen the health of your trees, checking for root rot, potentially hazardous trees, etc. Each visit will last approximately 30 minutes and Mr. Barneycastle will provide a report of his findings. Mr. Barneycastle is strictly a tree consultant. He is not a tree service, and does not have any vested interest in cutting down trees. The fee is $75.00 per house. Payment is expected at the time of service. Call Mr. Barneycastle at (678) 386-8623 to schedule your time slot on Sat., June 14. |
CPCA has a new "President"!
| We are pleased to announce that effective January 1, 2008 CPCA will have a new President, Peter Bok. He is an excellent choice for us. Peter is a really nice guy, very competent and will provide our association with a new level of energy and creativity. I have enjoyed being the President of the association and will continue on the Board to provide a smooth transition for Peter and assume responsibility for the "communications" area for the association. So, you will continue to hear my voice on the upcoming calling posts. Thanks for your continued support of the neighborhood. We will continue to look for new ways to bring us together. Should you want to help out on any of our committees, please let us know. Your support will be greatly appreciated. We hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday season and a happy New Year. All the best, Bill Chambers |
